Testimonials

“I just wanted to share that today Mageena did such a wonderful job with a patient. She’s young and at high risk and Mageena did not feel comfortable discharging her. She went in and thoroughly explained the situation and had such a level of compassion I felt like I needed to share what a great experience it was for this young girl. Mageena is so knowledgeable and has honestly taught all of us so much. She willingly shares info that makes us as nurses more effective in dealing with our clients while managing her time here. We are all so grateful when she comes.”

Karen English, RN in the Valley Health System

“Mageena’s presentation focused on suicide prevention and suicide risk assessment modalities. Her presentation was original in that she not only focused on what it says “in the book” but she also spoke from her experience working the Mobile Crisis Unit. While Mageena prepared a lengthy and well-researched PowerPoint, she neither read from the script nor was she so rigid to have to stick to the particular script that she prepared. Instead, she summarized the main points, conveyed personal anecdotes, and peppered the presentation with interesting teaching points. After the presentation, several individuals were intrigued and lined up to ask Mageena follow up questions. I was impressed with the scope of research that was in the presentation as well as with Mageena’s strong delivery. The lessons provided will serve as an important backdrop for the attendees’ future experiences dealing with suicidality in their clients”.

Rabbi Avi Anderson, LMSW, CSW-Intern

“I felt strongly compelled to express to you what an amazing social worker Mageena Tom is. When Ms. Tom started coming to our facility, I was pleasantly shocked by her positive involvement in our unit. It is clear how professional, hardworking, and passionate about serving patients with mental health conditions she is. I’m extremely hard working myself and take pride in our profession. I feel so hopeful that I met a social worker like Ms. Tom who exemplifies what an LCSW should be. More students need to be assigned to working with a LCSW like Ms. Tom. It is so rare to find a gem in an LCSW out here and I’m so grateful that we have Ms. Tom coming to us.”

“Mageena is like that main character on House, MD. She is determined to solve the psychiatric/medical mystery. I have watched her in action. She is unconventional and dedicated to her work. She always found the diagnosis no matter how difficult or obscure it was. She kept great records and gave informative reports. She also excelled at identifying missing persons, like the patients no one else could ID. I had so much fun watching her clear the ER.”

“We had a client’s family reject numerous other workers we provided them. They felt the other staff members didn’t fit well with their daughter. Mageena however, formed a bond with this girl instantly. The mother of this girl, who has never been easy to please, has said, ‘You can’t understand how much my daughter loves to work with Mageena; nobody has ever been able to do this’. Her dedication to families and individuals with disabilities is to be admired.”
